MCTMedic

MCTMedic is a Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCT) oil which is an easily digestible fat source.

The product is a ready-to-use mixture of triglycerides, mainly consisting of C8 and C10 fatty acids. This source of fat is absorbed directly into the portal circulation and does not require the more complex digestion process of Long-Chain Triglycerides (LCT).

It is suitable for infants, children and adults. The dosage should be determined by a clinician or dietitian.

Key Benefits

MCTMedic serves as a Food for Special Medical Purposes / Medical Food for patients unable to sufficiently digest or absorb conventional fats and for the dietary management of patients suffering from drug-resistant epilepsy, also known as refractory epilepsy. Besides these areas of use, there are also less common conditions where the dietary management with MCTs is beneficial.

MCTMedic is derived from modified coconut and palm kernel oil in order to minimise the presence of long-chain fatty acids (<1%). Even though Lauric acid (C12:0) is classified as a medium-chain fatty acid, we were able to minimise the level to <2.5%.  For optimal efficacy, a chain length below 12 carbon is preferred. Our product contains a minimum of 95% of a mixture of caprylic (C8:0) and capric (C10:0) fatty acids.

It has very low viscosity and excellent oxidative stability with essentially no odor or flavour. The molecules are slightly polar which makes it dissolvable in a variety of substances. This product contains no trans fatty acids.
